Jim Jones arrested In New Jersey on Rapper charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct

Rapper Jim Jones has been arrested after allegedly becoming belligerent while being questioned by police about two oustanding warrants given for $193 worth of unpaid road citations.



The 37-year-old former recurring star of VH1 reality show "Love & Hip Hop" and member of rap group The Diplomats has not commented. Jones, whose real name is Joseph G. Jones, was arrested on the morning of February 13 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, where he lives.


Police told NorthJersey.com that an officer had questioned Jones about a ticketed car parked on a snowy street since February 8. They said he agreed to move it and pay a fee. The officer then discovered he had two outstanding warrants and he stopped cooperating after he was asked about them, the report said.




One warrant had been issued in 2011 over an unpaid $43 ticket given for failure to remove snow from a sidewalk, while the other one, worth $150, was issued in 2010 and was given for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, the website said. Police said the officer began to arrest Jones, who then became belligerent.




The Fair Lane-SaddleBrooke Patch community website reported that when the officer asked Jones to go with him to police headquarters to settle the warrants, Jones denied they existed, became disorderly and tried to walk away as the sergeant was placing him under arrest.

He was booked in a local jail and released after posting bail. He is due in court on February 27 to face police charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction.


Jim Jones was arrested on Feb. 13 by New Jersey Fair Lawn police officers for disorderly conduct after an alleged disagreement with the officers who were trying to tow his vehicle, according to a Feb. 14 NorthJersey.com report.

According to authorities, the rapper and New Jersey resident whose real name is Joseph G. Jones, 37, was arrested on Feb. 13 after being questioned by police on Ward Street. Police were reportedly questioning Jones about a ticketed vehicle they were trying to tow, when the he became upset. He had agreed to pay the fine, but became upset over questions relating to two prior warrants for failing to shovel a sidewalk and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

When told about the warrants Jones became “belligerent and uncooperative” and provided false information to the questioning officer. According to the police report, he then attempted to walk away while being placed under arrest. He was arrested on charges of obstruction and disorderly conduct and taken to police headquarters.

Jones was later released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.


Hip-hop artist Jim Jones was charged with disorderly conduct after an altercation with a police officer outside his home in Fair Lawn, N.J., officials said.

The Fair Lawn-Saddle Patch reported Jones was arrested Wednesday after he yelled at an officer responding to a complaint of a snowbound and illegally parked car outside Jones' home.

The officer ran Jones' name through a police database and discovered two warrants for his arrest -- one from Paterson for a motor vehicle violation and one from Fair Lawn for failure to remove snow from his sidewalk, the newspaper said.

The officer requested Jones go with him to police headquarters to settle the warrants, but Jones denied any wrongdoing and allegedly became disorderly, prompting his arrest, the report said.
